What is Baseball ?

America’s most loved sport and a little bit like our cricket!
Baseball is a bat-and-ball game played between two opposing teams, of nine players each, that take turns batting and fielding. Baseball evolved from older bat-and-ball games already being played in England by the mid-18th century. MLB or Major League Baseball is a professional baseball organisation and the oldest major professional sports league in the world. As of 2022, a total of 30 teams are there in Major League Baseball. Some of people’s all-time favourite ones are Texas Rangers, New York Mets, Chicago Cubs, New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Chicago White Sox. Some of the most popular players in MLB are Henry Louis Aaron  nicknamed "Hammer" or "Hammerin’’ Hank, Roger Clemens, George Herman "Babe" Ruth, Michael Nelson Trout.

Homer - A homerun, also known as 'Homer' or 'round trippers’ is scored when the ball is hit in such a way that the batter is able to circle the bases and reach home safely in one play without any errors being committed.

Pitcher - In baseball, the pitcher is the player who pitches the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. 

Strike - When a batter swings at a pitch but fails to hit it. When a batter does not swing at a pitch that is thrown within the strike zone.
